Connexions Northumberland VCS Advisory Group

The aim of the Connexions VCS Advisory Group is to promote and develop the working partnership between the VCS and the Connexions Service to ensure the provision of quality services to young people in Northumberland. The VCS Advisory Group meets four monthly in May, September and January.

Objectives:

• To develop the Connexions VCS strategy and monitor the implementation of the VCS Action Plan.
• To identify common goals for both the VCS and the Connexions Service within the context of partnership working to provide better services to young people.
• To further develop the quality of work that both partners provide for young people.
• To identify ways of developing and improving partnership working.
• To identify issues/barriers that could affect partnership working and jointly work out solutions to overcome the problems.
• To raise awareness within:
  • the Connexions Service staff group about services the VCS offer to young people
  • the VCS about the Connexions Service offer to young people.
• To support the representation for VCS within decision making bodies within the Connexions Partnership to ensure that the VCS have opportunities to participate with statutory and other ‘not for profit’ partners in setting the agenda for the development of services for young people.
• To identify how to work in partnership to utilise the range of local and national funding streams available, e.g. the Connexions Partnership; Lottery; Charitable Foundations; Youth Fund etc. to provide quality services for young people.
