Are you in the second year of a two year course such as A levels?

Most leavers continue in education, the majority go to university to do a higher education course – degree, HND or Foundation degree. Some go directly into employment or work and learning programmes.

What should you do now?

GET some careers guidance - ask if you need help. Talk to your tutor, teachers or Head of Sixth Form. An individual interview with your Personal Adviser might help or you could go to a lunchtime drop in session. You can also use Connexions Direct, a free telephone helpline – 080 800 13219.

USE up to date careers information provided in schools, colleges and our Connexions Centres. Using the careers info part of this site will also give you lots of help.

USE http://www.ucas.com/ to find out more about courses available at universities and what the institutions are like.

USE http://www.prospects.ac.uk/ to find out more about the kinds of jobs that graduates do, to help you decide what kind of course to go for. This careers database has information about careers which do not necessarily require a degree e.g. nursing, police force, as well as those that do.

USE our vacancy service. We can tell you about apprenticeships, work based learning programmes and education opportunities. Vacancies are displayed in your local Connexions Centre. Ask for help in making applications and finding suitable work.
