What are your choices at the end of year 11?

As a young person with Special Educational Needs, you may find that you need to make plans earlier than some of your friends. This is to make sure that the support you need is in place in good time.

At age 16 you can choose to:

• Stay at your present school if it has a Sixth Form
• Apply for a place at another school if it has a Sixth Form
• Apply for a place at your local further education college
• Apply for a place at a specialist college (now or when you are 18 or 19 years)
• Apply for work based learning or employment in your chosen type of work
• Aim for higher education at age 18, e.g. University.

You will have lots of opportunities to talk about your plans with your family, your school and your Personal Adviser.

Connexions Northumberland is there to make sure that you get all the information you need to make the right choice for you.

The local contacts part of this site tells you where your local Connexions Centre is, or you can ring us on 01670 798180
