Options at 16
1. Full-time study - at 6th form or college.
There is a large range of one and two year courses to choose from; some will be in subjects like the ones you have studied at GCSE, others will relate more to jobs, e.g. in social care, hairdressing, ICT or engineering.
2. Apprenticeships - a combination of a work placement or job with training leading to NVQs.
3. Job without training - usually routine jobs with limited prospects. If you take a job like this, you may be entitled to time for study or training - ask your Personal Adviser.
The pie chart shows that:
84% of young people stayed in full-time education.
3.1% entered work based learning.
5.7% entered full-time employment.
4.1% were not in education, employment or training.
1.5% were in part-time activities.
1.6% had left the area or were unknown to Connexions.
