Why carry on learning?

Right now  you may feel that you’ve had more than enough of education and qualifications, but  there are one or two things you should consider before you make any decisions.

Firstly, although they cannot guarantee you a job, research has shown that, in general, qualifications do lead to better paid jobs.

Secondly, the approach to learning has changed in recent years. Learning is now thought of as a lifelong experience, with more opportunities than ever before to learn new skills.

In Northumberland most young people stay in full-time education after the age of 16. In 2008 more than three quarters of Year 11 students chose to carry on in learning (in full-time education or work based learning).
